If on a blank page, I would go somewhere far.
If on a blank page, I would go and lay down the bricks and blocks
of a just world.
A world where kindness and community are held in the highest regard.
A world where education would not only be valued by words but by action.
I would carefully cut the quarry and lay down the good work to cultivate kindness and urgently blot out greed.
But because there is no blank page and words fail
Perhaps we continue to show up and find small
meadows and write in the margins
And maybe slowly we can add to the work that’s come before to help the work that comes next
I will arise and go now
To the page in which I will pour
